Session recordings available here. The proposed session brought together recognised experts in the social policy and development fields. The session focused on the obstacles social protection programmes and national systems face, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, to effectively respond to increased levels of vulnerability to hunger and malnutrition which perpetuate the vicious circle of poverty endured by millions.
Following the panel discussion, the floor was given to expert discussants representing government practitioners and policymakers at the frontline of social protection responses to COVID-19. They endorsed and practically grounded some of the key messages conveyed by panellists and pose questions to help delineate the way forward in their countries and regions.
