Maliki has been working in Bappenas for more than 20 years. With a background as an engineer, he earned his doctoral degree in Economics of Population at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is closely working on poverty, labor, population and social policy issues, especially economics of ageing. Currently, he is appointed as Director for Poverty Alleviation and Social Welfare since 2019. His portfolio is to design policy planning for the development of social protection program. Currently, his directorate is working on formulating the national strategy on long term care for older people, national social protection reform, national action plan for inclusive development for people with disability, development of multidimensional poverty indicators, and development of social registry.
