Simone Cecchini is Senior Social Affairs Officer and Officer in Charge of the Social Development Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), based in Santiago, Chile. 
 
At ECLAC he leads research and advises governments on poverty and inequality, the design and implementation of social protection policies and programmes and the assessment of social programmes. His research is characterized by a multi-disciplinary approach and a focus on equity and human rights. Over the years, he has contributed to a variety of institutional reports -such as the Social Panorama of Latin America-, peer-reviewed papers and books on social policy, including issues of access to education. 
 
Mr. Cecchini holds a Degree in Political Science from the University of Florence, Italy, a Master's in International Trade and Investment Policy from the Elliott School of International Affairs, Washington D.C., and an MBA from the Universidad Católica of Chile.
