Clinic 2 - Gender and disability-sensitive social protection in times of COVID-19 and beyond

This thematic clinic will provide an opportunity to ask - and answer - questions about how to ensure that gender and disability are fully integrated into the response to COVID-19 and beyond; how the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes can be better adapted to meet the differential needs of women, men, girls and boys, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable or excluded groups, and; how the social protection response to COVID can be an opportunity to achieve transformative outcomes on gender and disability.

The "clinic" sessions are an opportunity for participants to ask practical and technical questions on a variety of topics that have been highly relevant to the social protection response to COVID. These will be answered 'live' or through a subsequent written discussion forum.

The sessions will be attended and moderated by designated "resource people" on the topic, but the answers can and should be provided by other colleagues as well: we are all experts and we can all learn from each other's experiences.

Designated resource people:
- Sinta Satriana, Social Protection Specialist, Mahkota Program Indonesia
- Abner Manlapaz, President of Life Haven-independent living center (DPO) and council member of the National Anti-Poverty Commission Philippines
- Alexandre Cote, Co-founder of the Centre for Inclusive Policy
- Meenakshi Balasubramanian, Founder of Equals-CPSJ (DPO) and research associate Centre for Inclusive Policy
- Amber Peterman, Associate Research Professor in Public Policy at the University of North Carolina, SPACE expert
- Elayn Sammon, International Development Consultant with a focus on social policy and social protection systems with a focus on women, children and disability inclusion, SPACE expert

This clinic will be hosted by the SPIAC-B Gender Working Group, in partnership with UNPRPD/ILO/UNICEF, and co-organised by SPACE – Social Protection Approaches to COVID-19: Expert advice. SPACE is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and German Development Cooperation (GDC).

This clinic will have two 'Live' sessions:
Clinic Session 2A
Clinic Session 2B

This session requires registration. To attend the session, you will need to register by clicking on the "Video Stream" button in one of the Clinic Sessions above, then follow the Zoom instructions.
